FAQS

The HIPOWER EHR is a battery energy storage and power distribution system. It stores electricity and supplies power without running a combustion engine. It can operate independently or as part of a system connected to a generator, the electrical grid, or solar panels.

In battery-only operation, the EHR produces no engine exhaust and no engine noise at the point of use. Fans and electrical components may still create minimal operating sound. If the EHR is connected to a diesel or spark-ignited generator, that generator will produce its normal sound and emissions while running.

The current EHR lineup includes models from 20 to 60 kVA nominal power, with storage capacities up to 127.8 kWh. Voltage, phase, output, storage, physical size, and connection options vary by model.

Runtime depends on the selected model, battery capacity, connected load, motor-starting demand, operating mode, temperature, and available charging sources. Because site loads change, runtime should be estimated from an actual load profile rather than a single general number.

The EHR can be charged through compatible electrical sources and can be integrated with a generator, the grid, or photovoltaic panels. Recharge time varies by model, state of charge, available input power, and system configuration.

In a properly sized hybrid system, the EHR can carry light loads, support short power peaks, reduce inefficient low-load generator operation, and allow the engine-driven generator to run closer to an efficient operating range. This can reduce generator runtime, fuel use, emissions, noise, and maintenance needs. Actual results depend on the load profile and system design.

Yes. HIPOWER’s C4CLOUD platform provides access to performance, load-profile, diagnostic, and system information through supported connectivity. Monitoring availability depends on communications coverage, configuration, and service setup.

Battery systems generally require less engine-related maintenance than conventional generators, but they still need inspection, software and system checks, battery-charge management, ventilation and filter care, and periodic verification of connections and safety systems. The maintenance schedule should follow the manufacturer requirements and how the unit is stored and used.
